The GI Farms Cooperative Trust will bring our wildly popular farm market to the Taste of Grand Island on Saturday September 24 at the Town Commons from Noon to 8 PM. We will have pumpkins and lots of seasonal vegetables for sale, in addition to free-range eggs, pickles, preserves, honey, baked goods.
The Oarhouse Eatery will feature its fabulous chicken corn chowder, made with Island-grown chicken. Thompson & Son Farms will also be serving their hardy farm chili, made with local beef and veggies.
Protect your property rights by filing an application to join the Ag District at no cost. Let us help you fill out the form by the filing deadline of September 30. Being in the Ag district gives you enhanced property rights, and allows you to do any type of farming activity on your property without unreasonable town interference. You can build fences, dig ponds, build barns, sheds, coops, etc., all without obtaining variances or building and special use permits, and never have to pay for an agricultural animal permit if you want to keep chickens, ducks, goats, even a horse. Being in the Ag district will also allow you to have a separate water meter for farm use so you don’t have to pay the sewer use tax if you are in a sewer district.
All the cool kids hang out at our tent, so be sure to stop by and chill with us. Our spokesbirds Thelma & Louise will be there to meet fans and sign autographs.
